Construction of Northern Hospital Inpatient Expansion Stage Two include there to seven floors IPU tower, three storey theatre expansion, refurbishment of cath labs, medical imaging, and cardiology services. Vic Piling drilled test holes to assess the feasibility of bored piers as the site is characterized by 11m fill layers of dumping materials. In such condition, Vic Piling engaged B&D Consulting Engineers to design bored piers for buildings and for crane base. The most challenging was withstanding of drilled holes in loose layers mixed with boulders, tyre, leather, fragments of building materials. Despite this condition, Vic piling constructed bored piers of 900mm diameter, 15m deep.
