Screw piles are a system of foundations supports. For any piling of two metres or more, they are faster, cheaper and more efficient than the traditional bored piers. The other main advantages are the absence of spoil material to be disposed of after installation, and the ability to continue construction immediately, without the necessity of waiting for curing time for the concrete.
They are constructed of circular hollow steel sections with one or more helices welded on to generate vertical loading. They can be designed for each individual application, with a variety of shaft and helix diameters, depending on the load requirements. Vic Piling can provide and install a range of piles from 75mm to 475mm shaft diameter with 300mm to 900mm helices, to a depth of anything up to 40 metres, to support loads of anything up to 1,200KN.
Depending on acidity of soil encountered, they can be galvanised and may also be grout filled for extra strength and rigidity
